The England team will today fly out to Sri Lanka for a 3 match series against
the Sri Lankans.
England will be lead by captain Heindrich Swanepoel and will expect a big
performance from the experienced players as the squad contains a number of young
or uncapped players.
The 16 man squad doesn't contain some recent England regulars including Bryn
Reynolds who stays at home as he's expecting the birth of his second child.
Former captain Adam Benjamin and long standing b1 player Neil Prior are also not
on the tour.
We will be keeping you up to date on the tour on this site with scorecards and
hopefully match reports if they are available.

Report Day 1
Sri Lank deservedly won the final match by 17 runs to leave England 2-1 winners in the series.
England made several changes giving first caps to Dan Field, who kept wicket, and Hassan Khan. An injury to Andy Powers meant that Dan Field batted in the top six. Sam Murray was entrusted with bowling first change in his first bowl in an international match.
The younger players acquitted themselves well and England took many positives from this match.
For the third time the team winning the toss chose to chase a total. Boundaries were hard to come by due to the long boundary and the rough outfield. This resulted in modest totals compared to the previous games.
Swanepoel and Townley opened the bowling steadily and Sam Murray was not overawed by the occasion, bowling the accomplished Kumara
Jayawardana followed up his 95 and 111 with a modest 39 and vice captain Samarasinge hung around for a long time for 42 before retiring hurt. Tight bowling from Rory Field and Swanepoel restricted Sri Lanka to 34 off the last 5 overs checking their familiar late surge.
Pickup and Seal sustained injuries during a disciplined England fielding performance bringing on reserves Greenhill and Northwood.
When England batted Foy fell in the 11th over after a steady start. With wickets falling regularly and Rory Field retiring hurt after another substantial innings the lower order batsmen faced an uphill task resulting in five run outs. Rory Field returned at the end but England were well short. With only 8 boundaries and the early dismissal of Foy England did well to keep up with the required run rate until late on. The Sri Lankans bowled economically and fielded as impressively as ever.
After the match trophies were presented to the players and officials and a magnificent trophy was presented to Heindrich Swanepoel as the series-winning captain. In his speech he expressed the views of all present that the series had been played in a friendly and competitive manner.
England had been entertained the previous evening by the Sri Lankan team at a magnificent meal and the teams look forward to meeting in the World Cup in December 2006 in South Africa.
Many questions about the composition of the squad were answered and if they can overcome the problems of stepping straight from an English winter into hot humid weather they should fancy their chances in the World Cup.

Sri Lanka hosting an overseas tour for the first time saw England take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series after a close, high-scoring game.
Sri Lanka inserted the opposition. They made three changes and England brought in Andy Dalby-Welsh.
Nathan Foy was run out in the 4th over going for a run from an overthrow. The first wicket stand of 50 in 22 balls was followed by a stand of 246 between Rory Field and Luke Sugg in 110 minutes. Sugg was bowled on 99 as he stepped to leg to force the ball through the off side. Three overs later Field retired hurt with heat exhaustion after scoring another big hundred. Powers and Swanepoel added 59 with Powers reaching his 50 after being denied in the first match.
After some lapses early on the Sri Lankan ground fielding was again impressive.
Sri Lanka were pinned back early on by Dalby-Welsh, who bowled straight through for impressive figures of 8-0-53-1, as they fell behind the required run rate.
Perera sustained an injury and went immediately stumped by Sugg but Jayawardana went to an impressive 111 in 71 balls. Another stumping removed DeSilva cheaply and Foy took 2-3 in 7 balls, including a stunning catch by Northwood, to put England on top. Some lower order slogging rattled England but tigerish fielding especially from B2 reserve Sam Murray saw England through with 3 runs to spare.
The England bowling always pressurised the Sri Lankans and, despite some tired bodies, a freshen up and some nibbles at a function hosted by the High Commissioner plus the luxury of a MacDonalds on the way home left the squad in good heart

Report Day 3
England inserted the opposition on an uneven matting surface.
An opening stand of 180 in 76 minutes looked ominous but Field and Swanepoel returned from expensive opening spells to assert more control. The introduction of Townley quietened things down a bit and he was supported by some excellent fielding. Howard Greenhill kept his line despite going for a six in his first over.
A spell of 3-32 from Foy removed both openers and opened up the possibility of inroads into the lower middle order but positive play from the hosts featuring some excellent running between the wickets brought them up to a total that would have been greater but for a brave performance from Seal who had to leave the field briefly to tend to his injuries. The introduction of the B1 reserve Hassan Khan meant that four new players took the pitch in this strong England side.
A stumping, two catches in the outfield, a bowled and two run outs was a just return for a fielding performance in which heads never dropped despite an impressive batting display from a young and energetic side.
With the match evenly poised at the interval Rory Field and Foy opened steadily without taking risks against some very sharp Sri Lankan outfielding in particular their fast, flat returns to the wickets.
When Foy was out caught at the wicket after a responsible innings with the score on 200, Sugg kept the momentum going with a brisk 31 off 22 balls giving Field support in an important stand that established the foundation for victory. Swanepoel went early to a direct hit from the outfield and Andy Powers after a watchful start cut loose and shared an unbeaten stand of 101 with Field. Powers fell was denied his 50 while Field consistently found the gaps with 29 boundaries.
In the end England won with 6 overs to spare. It was a masterly performance from Rory Field who was on the pitch throughout a match played in hot humid conditions. Sri Lanka tried 10 bowlers to try to unsettle him but he was not to be denied in his England debut finishing on 173 not out.
With plenty of batting to come a focused England effort which also included debuts for Andy Powers and Howard Greenhill allows England to approach the second match on Wednesday with confidence.
Scott Poundall, the team physio, was kept busy after the match with several strains and niggles but an exhausted, happy team endured an early start and a return journey of two hours to earn a day off.
